Refund Policy

In force for KinVisa 0.1.21 and later. Published September 10, 2026, updated October 8, 2026.

This policy explains when we refund a purchase of PDF credits for KinVisa Relationship Photo Documents ("KinVisa"), how to ask for one, and what your legal rights are regardless of what this policy says.

In short: previewing your document is free and unlimited, so you can see exactly what you are buying before you buy it. Once a credit is spent the purchase is final. Billing errors are always corrected, and nothing here limits the consumer rights you have where you live.

What You Are Buying

A purchase buys a pack of PDF credits, added to your KinVisa account. A credit is the right to save one finished document as a PDF file on your computer.

Credits are a one-time purchase, not a subscription. Nothing renews, nothing is billed again, and there is no recurring payment to cancel — so there is no subscription to end and no cancellation you need to remember. Credits do not expire.

Building and previewing a document is free, unlimited, and does not spend a credit. The preview exists so that you can page through the entire finished document, check it, and change it before deciding to buy anything at all.

Who Processes Your Payment

Payments are handled by Polar Software, Inc. (polar.sh), which acts as the Merchant of Record for your purchase. Polar is the seller of record: it takes the payment, calculates and remits any sales tax, VAT or GST that applies where you live, and issues your receipt. Your purchase is a contract with Polar as reseller, alongside our Terms of Use and this policy, which govern how you may use what you bought.

The name shown on your card statement is set by Polar and may not read "KinVisa". If a charge is unfamiliar, please write to us before disputing it — we can identify it quickly.

Refunds are issued by Polar, back to the original payment method. We assess refund requests against this policy. Polar may also cancel a transaction and refund a buyer on its own initiative, as its buyer and supplier terms allow, and a refund Polar grants stands whatever this policy says. Refunds are always returned to the card or account used for the purchase — we cannot pay a refund to a different person or a different payment method.

Once a refund is issued, the time it takes to appear on your statement is set by your bank or card issuer, not by us. A few working days is typical.

Purchases Are Final Once a Credit Is Spent

Spending a credit produces the PDF it was sold to produce, writes that file to your computer, and unlocks that document on your account for good. At that point the thing you bought has been delivered in full and is not refundable.

This is why the preview is free and unlimited. You can assemble the entire document, read every page, change the photos, captions and details as many times as you like, and see exactly what the finished file will be — all without spending anything. Nothing has to be bought in order to find out what you are getting, so there is no reason to buy first and decide afterwards.

If a document you paid to save came out wrong because of a fault in the app, that is not covered by the paragraph above. Write to us and we will put it right.

Credits You Have Not Spent

If you have bought a pack and have not spent any of it, you may write to us and ask us to reverse the purchase. We consider these case by case and are not obliged to agree.

We are more likely to agree the sooner you ask, and less likely once time has passed, since credits do not expire and remain available in your account indefinitely.

This applies only to a pack you have not touched at all. Once any credit from a pack has been spent, the pack is not refundable — neither the credit you used nor the ones still sitting in your account. Those unspent credits are not lost: credits do not expire, so they stay available to you for as long as your account exists.

If We Stop the Service or Close Your Account

If we stop the service, we will tell you before it happens and give you a period in which you can still use the credits you hold. Saving a document needs our service to be reachable, so the service stays available for that period rather than being switched off at the moment notice is given.

Credits you have not used by the end of that period are refunded to you. You paid for something we decided to stop providing, and a credit you never spent is one we never delivered — so the money comes back rather than staying with us.

The one exception is a credit that was never really bought: one obtained by fraud, with a stolen card, or by working around payment altogether. There is no payment behind such a credit, so there is nothing to return.

If we close your account because it was used in breach of our Terms of Use, the credits in it you have not spent are forfeited and are not refunded. We close accounts only for the reasons the Terms set out — serious misuse, interference with our services, or legal or security risk — and not for a trivial or accidental breach. If we close an account in error, we restore it together with the credits it held.

Neither of these takes away the rights described under Your Legal Rights below.

Payment Problems We Always Fix

The following are billing errors rather than changes of mind, and we correct them in full whenever they happen:

  • A duplicate charge. You were billed more than once for the same pack.
  • Credits you paid for did not arrive. Payment succeeded but the credits were not added to your account, and we cannot add them.
  • A charge you did not make. A payment appears against your account that you did not authorise.

Where the fault is ours, you may choose between having the money returned and having the credits added to your account.

Your Legal Rights

Nothing in this policy takes away rights you have under the consumer law of the country you live in, and where that law gives you more than this policy does, the law applies.

If you are in Australia, our goods come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law. If you are in New Zealand, the Consumer Guarantees Act may apply. If you are in the United Kingdom or the European Union, you may have a statutory right to cancel a distance purchase within 14 days, subject to the rules that apply to digital content you have chosen to access immediately. At checkout you are asked to request immediate delivery of your credits and to acknowledge that you will lose that right once delivery begins, and we email you a confirmation of that agreement.

Where a mandatory consumer right conflicts with anything written above, the mandatory right prevails.

Before You Raise a Chargeback

If something has gone wrong with a payment, please contact us first. A refund we issue directly is usually resolved in days, while a chargeback takes weeks and is decided by parties who have never seen your account.

We will not refuse a refund that is due under this policy in order to avoid a chargeback, and asking us first costs you nothing.

How to Request a Refund

Write to [email protected] from the email address on the KinVisa account that made the purchase, and include:

  • the order or receipt number from your confirmation email;
  • the date of purchase;
  • which pack you bought;
  • why you are asking.

We reply within one business day, and reach a decision within three business days of your request. If we need something else from you to make that decision, we will say so in that first reply. If we decline a refund, we will tell you why.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy. The version that applies to a purchase is the one published at the time that purchase was made, and we will post the new effective date at the top of this page when it changes.
