Question 1

I don't get it — what is a photo evidence document?

Accepted Answer

KinVisa's photo evidence document is a single PDF that gathers the relationship photos you select, with the people, place and date details you enter. Home Affairs and Immigration New Zealand both mention photographs in their relationship-evidence information. The PDF is KinVisa's organisational format, not an official template or a recommendation about what to submit.

Question 2

What is KinVisa?

Accepted Answer

KinVisa Relationship Photo Documents (KinVisa for short) is a privacy-first desktop app that helps couples organise family photos, label people, add relationship context, and export a clean evidence PDF packet for spouse and partner visa applications.

Question 3

Who is KinVisa for?

Accepted Answer

Couples preparing relationship evidence for a spouse or partner visa, or a similar process that asks for proof of a genuine relationship.

Question 4

Does KinVisa provide legal advice?

Accepted Answer

No. KinVisa is an organisation and PDF generation tool. It does not provide immigration or legal advice, determine what to submit or guarantee application outcomes. For advice about Australian immigration, consult a registered migration agent or Australian legal practitioner. For New Zealand immigration advice, consult a licensed immigration adviser or another person legally permitted to provide it.

Question 5

Are my photos uploaded to the cloud?

Accepted Answer

No. KinVisa is designed for local use. Your photos stay on your computer. Face detection and matching are performed locally — they aren't sent to a cloud service.

Question 6

Do I need an account?

Accepted Answer

Yes. You sign in with your email address through a link sent to it; there is no password. The account holds your credits and the record of documents you have saved. Your photos, projects and face data stay on your computer.

Question 7

Do I need an internet connection?

Accepted Answer

Not for the work itself. Organising photos, labelling faces, writing captions and previewing all run on your computer. You need a connection to sign in, to buy credits, and to save a finished PDF, because saving spends a credit.

Question 8

What does it cost to save a PDF?

Accepted Answer

One credit per saved document. Credits are bought in packs of 3, 5 or 10, and building and previewing a document costs nothing.

Question 9

How do I buy credits?

Accepted Answer

Inside the app, not on this website. Download KinVisa, sign in, and choose a pack from the save screen or from Settings. Polar, our reseller, takes the payment and sends your receipt, and the credits are added to your account within seconds.

Question 10

What does one credit buy?

Accepted Answer

One credit is the right to save one finished document as a PDF file on your computer. A credit is not money, has no cash value, and cannot be transferred between accounts or exchanged for anything other than saving a document.

Question 11

Why is re-saving the same document free?

Accepted Answer

Because the unlock belongs to the document, not to the act of saving. Once your account has unlocked a document, rebuilding it, previewing it again or saving another copy costs nothing further, so a lost file is never a second purchase. Editing the photos, captions or details produces a different document, and saving that one uses another credit.

Question 12

Do the prices include tax?

Accepted Answer

It depends where you are. If you are in Australia, the Pricing page shows the total including 10% GST. Everywhere else, prices are shown in US dollars before tax, and any sales tax, VAT or GST that applies where you live is added at checkout, so the total you pay will be higher than the price shown. Either way, Polar works out the exact amount and shows you the full total before you confirm.

Question 13

Do credits expire?

Accepted Answer

No. Credits stay in your account until you use them. There is no subscription, nothing renews, and there is no ongoing charge to cancel.

Question 14

Can I get a refund?

Accepted Answer

Previewing is free and unlimited, so you can see exactly what you are buying before you buy it, and a purchase is final once a credit has been spent. Credits you have not spent are considered case by case. Duplicate charges, payments that did not deliver, and charges you did not authorise are always corrected, and nothing limits the consumer rights you hold where you live.

Question 15

Does face detection require a GPU?

Accepted Answer

No. KinVisa runs face detection and matching on your computer's CPU. No dedicated graphics card is required.

Question 16

Can I review the PDF before exporting?

Accepted Answer

Yes, and the preview is free. You can page through the full packet, edit captions, and remove anything you don't want to include before saving the final PDF. Section order is set earlier in the workflow, by hand or by date, and carries through to the document.

Question 17

Is there a macOS download?

Accepted Answer

When a macOS release is available, you'll find the direct .dmg download on the Downloads page. If no release is published yet, the page will say so clearly.

Question 18

Is there a Windows version?

Accepted Answer

Yes. A Windows EXE download is available on the Downloads page. The Microsoft Store version is not available yet.

Question 19

Is the Microsoft Store version available?

Accepted Answer

No. The Microsoft Store version is not available yet. Check the Downloads page for the current Windows EXE download.

Question 20

What file formats are supported?

Accepted Answer

JPEG, PNG, WebP, GIF, BMP, and AVIF, up to 30 MB each. HEIC/HEIF and TIFF are not accepted — convert them to JPEG or PNG first. Exported evidence packets are generated as PDF.

Question 21

Where are my generated PDFs saved?

Accepted Answer

You choose the destination using your computer's save dialog when you export. KinVisa also keeps recent generated copies in the project's local history so you can reopen them from the app.

Question 22

Does face recognition need an internet connection?

Accepted Answer

No. The face-recognition models are included in the app, so finding and recognising faces works on your computer without a connection. You still need to be online to sign in, to save a PDF, and to get updates.
